Ca' Soave
Farmhouse in Valsamoggia since 1990
About us
The Ca' Soave agritourism winery is a window onto the lands of the Colli Bolognesi, a territory designed by the sun of nature and history. Come and discover the colors and delicacies of the land combined with the magic of the stones.
The company, located in a small village nestled in the hills of the Samoggia Valley, was founded in 1998 by the brothers Michela, Nicola and Sara Russomanno to renovate and enhance the ancient fortified building and the farm dating back to the year one thousand, creating a production reality inserted in the territory.
Ca' Soave is one of the oldest historic buildings in the area. The main building dates back to the 12th/13th century and still bears the structure of the "Casa Torre" as can be seen from the buttresses at the base, the presence of a dovecote in the attic and the traces of previous pointed arch openings. The agritourism, adjacent to the recently renovated main building, is located in the old stable, a building dating back to the 18th/19th century.
Ca’ Soave overlooks the Piccola Cassia, a Roman road that continued or duplicated the famous Via Cassia, crossing the territory between Modena and Bologna. This route crosses a territory rich in natural environments where two small springs flow and where the landscape is strongly characterized by beautiful cesaretti and vineyards. All this frames some rural buildings of great historical and architectural interest.
The old vineyard has been restored and new systems have been created where DOC wines of the Colli Bolognesi are produced thanks to constant commitment and new technologies in respect of tradition.
In 1998, with the renovation of the old stable and the barn, the agritourism activity began.
The Restaurant
In the restaurant room, which was obtained by renovating the old stable, and around the central fireplace, it is possible to taste dishes of the Emilian gastronomic tradition prepared according to the rhythm of the seasons and a little imagination. The menus are designed using the company's products, such as fruit, organic vegetables or aromatic herbs from the medicinal garden, together with typical products of Emilian gastronomy. Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, white truffle from the Bologna hills or porcini mushrooms are enhanced by the homemade puff pastry and pasta, by bread baked in a wood oven, by the originality of the desserts accompanied by DOC wines from the Bologna Hills produced in the company's cellar.
In the dining room and on the veranda, food and wine events and tastings are organised, as well as themed evenings with typical menus, pasta, cooking and bread-making courses and of course parties and events for every occasion.
During the winter evenings, in addition to warming us, the fireplace is used to cook some local products, such as chestnuts.
